Voice Recognition Software

This blog post was typed entirely using voice recognition software. People can say 120 words a minute but only type around 40 words a minute which makes for a big difference when using voice recognition software compared to using the keyboard.

I've only tried software built into Windows to recognize my voice but I only found it to be more time-consuming and full of mistakes, whereas if I used the keyboard I would've been faster.

The found a software for voice-recognition called Naturally speaking and I've used it for typing many Word documents and solving many school worksheets. The program itself adapts to your voice every time you use it to type your documents.

In comparison to the built-in voice recognition in Windows, this program allows for much more accurate recognition of voice producing fewer mistakes, and in the end you type much faster and get more things done in the same time.

I would recommend this software to anyone who finds typing large documents on the keyboard to be difficult or time-consuming. Even if you're like me and didn't find anything particularly wrong with typing on the keyboard, you would appreciate the speed of typing documents with voice recognition software.

The Sixth Sense (1999)

The Sixth Sense, a 1999 film which may sound quite old, but is rather interesting, is about a boy who has a sixth sense, maybe some might call it a gift. This gift enables him to see dead people.

While this may seem to some as 'cool', maybe even reminding you of Ghost Whisperer, this frightens the young boy as he keeps seeing people begging for mercy with cut off limbs or hanging from a rope.

This goes by the tag line of the movie, 'not every gift is a blessing', and his daily traumas make him more and more troubled with his life.

The boy seeks the help of a disheartened child psychologist, Dr Malcom, who once was shot by one of his patients who had the same sixth sense, driving the patient into total madness and misery.

With the help of the doctor, after he realizes that what the boy is seeing is real, the boy begins to tackle his dilemmas with the help of the psychologist, by speaking to the dead people and seeing what they need.

This psychological horror film or maybe thriller, is a rather interesting one. This is one of the films that the plot is focused on more than the action, but without getting too unbalanced.

Probably the best and most thrilling part of the film is the twist ending, for which the director was very creative indeed. You will be surprised by the ending, I can assure that.

Be sure to watch this six Academy Award nomination film.

Iron Man (2008)

I watched this film yesterday and I must say it is fantastic.

The story talks about a Tony Starks, a man who owns a weapons factory that makes firearms for the military. After being captured by a terrorist group, he finds out that his weapons are being used against America and escapes by building the Iron Man.

Once outside and in a press conference, he declares that he will shut down the factory after what he saw while he was captured. However, a man also in the company was not at all willing to shut the factory down and later became enemies with him.

Tony must now use all his power against his enemy, by building an improved, more sophisticated but powerful Iron Man, in order to battle his enemies and rid the world of evil. Along comes action packed scenes that you will love.

Talking more about the bad sides, this film's plot is rather short and might even be predictable. The action is a bit overrated but settles to be fair by the end. Putting the cons aside, the film contains great action scenes as well as well put special effects.

A stunning film for those action lovers.

First Day Of Holiday

How better can the summer holiday get?

Since I have my computer finally back, I can now fulfill my promise to post daily. And I hope I can keep up to my promise. Anyway, today since I had the DVD player to my self, I decided to burn my eyes more and watch two new films.

I decided to review them to the public. The first is The Condemned, and the second is National Treasure: Book Of Secrets.

The Condemned (2007)

Ten prisoners on death row are bribed out of prison and sent to an island to be filmed and broadcast over the Internet. There mission is to find each other and kill one another until only one wins, who will be freed. The main aspect of the film is violence packed action, in which all the islands fights center around. Although of the violence extensively that some may find fun, I find it too much.

The plot keeps twisting and turning, and the ending is not how I would expect it to be. Rather strange that a prisoner is the hero and not the producer. All in all I did not like this movie, a bad film were even the action isn't put together correctly.

National Treasure: Book Of Secrets (2007)

As a sequel to the previous film in the series, which I also watched as well, Ben Gates is a treasure hunter who solves clues in order to find his families lost treasure. Gathering friends and foes along the way, Gates manages to find his goal. This film is filled with riddles and mysteries, as well as action and adventure at the right times as well.

Especially when they are plotting to rob something, the sequel of events is great. As to not give away much of the plot, I'll leave the rest to you. The two films in the series are worth the watch, don't miss out on them.

Prison Break

As you may already know, but may have breathed your last one while waiting for another post, is that I have completed watching the first season of the well known series, Prison Break. And I can tell you one thing for sure, it is without a doubt, magnificent.

For those sad bunch of you who still haven’t taken the honor of watching the series, I’ll condense the opening plot for you all in a paragraph. Lincoln Burrows, an innocent man, is framed for the assassination of the vice presidents brother, and is serving the death penalty.

Determined to prove his brothers innocence, but with time against him, Michael Scofield devises a plan to get his brother over the walls of prison and away from the electric chair, in order to prove his innocence once outside the reach of the death penalty.

This film is spectacular from each characteristic and every detail. From the actual story, which resembles the love of a brother and determination to get him out, to the plot of escape, which shows absolute genius in the crafting of the idea.

Each character has his own ideas and they represent his own profile in the film, from the mastermind Scofield, to the raw animal T-Bag, and even the dumb but innocent Sucre. The filming shows every detail and flashbacks give you an idea of what’s happening and why.

Even the soundtrack is great, which gives the right piece of calm or thinking or action, to back up the moving pictures. In fact, I took the liberty of downloading the whole soundtrack. Beautiful, I must say.

So what are you waiting for? Go buy the first season and start watching. You’ll never regret it.

Vantage Point (2008)

I watched this film after buying it on DVD, which was rather good quality, from the same shop I replaced the Prison Break DVDs.

The film is set in Spain, where the president is assassinated in the middle of a anti-terrorism summit. A large puzzle involves, where you get to see each unique persons 'vantage point', or his point of view of the incident.

As you see each vantage point, from the camera man to the control room to the officer, its like a piece of the jigsaw is added to the puzzle, and once you complete the 8 vantage points, the story unfolds to show the extremely unpredictable plot.

Each vantage point, although repeating the same 23 minutes, from noon till the bomb explodes, it shows you a different story. Do not worry, you will not get annoyed seeing the same shot and explosion 8 times - in fact, each time it happens you discover another piece of the puzzle.

With each shot and explosion, you have your nerves tingling waiting for the next. The action is set nicely with appropriate music, and even the setting is beautiful - which is filmed in Mexico.

At the climax, after the 8 vantage points, you will see some great car chase scenes, as well as gunfire and that sort of action. Everything you'd want from an action film is included in this masterpiece.

I recommend this for all action lovers. Enjoy!

Reviewing Two Films

Holes (2003)

Holes is about a boy wrongly convicted off a crime, which is blamed by a long ago curse on the Yelnats family. Stanley is then sent to 'Camp Green Lake', a juvinele camp that hides a great mystery. While digging holes, Stanely makes friends with Hector, who - when they choose to run away - uncovers the mystery of the camp and releases the curse.

This film is a great book turned into a movie. It talks that no matter how unlucky you are, you will find hope in the end. It all relates very well together, and the story/plot is a very interesting one. It also has alot of laughs, and is a good family drama well suited for those who enjoy films with interesting stories.

The Simpsons Movie (2007)

After the Springfield Lake is cleaned up, Homer and his Pig decide to pour thier 'waste' into the lake, making it turn black from pollution. The Enviromental Protection Agency decides to put a huge glass dome on top of Springfield, but the Simpsons family manages to escape and flee to Alaska.

They then get news that Springfield will be blown up to build a new Grand Canyon, but Homer refuses to go back. The rest of the family go back to try and save Springfield, but they can't without Homer's help. Can he save Springfield?

This great addition, from the almighty comedy cartoon The Simpsons, has lots of laughs as well as the drama needed to keep the story. It also has lots of sub plots, such as Homer almost losing his son Bart to his neighbour Ned Flanders. A great comedy, not neccessarily for the entire family, but its still good.
