Project Euler



No place for those geeky neurons, up in your head, to start calculating? Need somewhere to put them to work?

You've found it.

Named after the famous and incredible mathematician, Euler, this website combines mathematics with programming, to provide a series of challenging problems that are only solvable by programming languages.

For example, try finding the 10001st prime using pen and paper. Or how about 2 to the power 1000, or how about the sum of the digits of 100 factorial?

Because of this, you must conjure up a programming language, to be able to solve this. The problems range from multiples of 3 and 5 under a thousand, to triangles containing the origin, and in total reach 190 problems.

There is a new problem published every week.

What are you waiting for? Go test your luck, and put those dusty old programming skills to work.

Go figure something.

A Piece Of Schake



I mean school, sorry.

Anyway, right now I'm doing some Math homework.

Of course, no circle theorem homework is interesting, and I say this with the strongest sarcasm, without a bit of music.

So, what better than the great, Lord Of The Rings soundtrack, that I downloaded one day from, err, sources... *cough* torrents *cough*.

It was a hefty 400 something megabytes, but because it is the best movie in the history of movies, I put it to download a few nights and it was done. LOTR I, II and III's soundtrack was on my hard drive.

I hope I'll be posting more often when I finish our mid-term exams.

Using Lines To Multiply



Basically, the method is divided into three steps. First you draw a number of lines for each number in your equation, but separating them. Then you count each corner the amount of intersections of lines and note them down, but the middle dots count as one number. Finally, you put the numbers you got together, and that would be the answer to your equation.

You would've understood nothing from what I just said, so watch the video for a much easier explanation of what happens. I think its great for mental maths when you have large numbers.
